Manager On Duty

We are looking for a Manager on Duty as part of our Front Office and Housekeeping Team at Residence Inn by Marriott in Vancouver, BC.

This position will ensure efficient and courteous service to each guest and maximize room revenues by directing and supervising the activities of the Guest Services and Housekeeping operation in accordance with the standards of SilverBirch and Marriott brand standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate the daily activities of the Guest Services and Housekeeping team to ensure guest satisfaction and collaborate with various departments
  • Schedule employees in accordance with forecasted occupancy, adjusting staffing needs as necessary
  • Address questions and problems relating to guest room accommodations and rates.
  • Control open and closed dates, availability and condition of rooms.
  • Provide control over rates; implements approved rate changes, in conjunction with Revenue Manager.
  • Provide effective key control and participates in matters relating to guest room security.
  • Monitor advance deposit procedure.
  • Assist in preparing reports as requested to develop a more informative database for applicable decision making.
  • Maintain statistics on rooms and reservations, guest arrivals and departures, average occupancy rates, and related information.
  • Coordinate billing with the Accounting Department.
  • Manage group arrivals and departures.
  • Familiarity with emergency and fire procedures. Ensures associates comply with Health & Safety rules and procedures.
  • Manage expenses, maximize revenues, encourage up-selling through incentives, and work at staying ahead of the competition.
  • Provide vacation and sick coverage for Night Audit shifts as needed.
  • Assist with daily operations of Housekeeping, managing arrivals, departures and stay overs.
  • Monitor property condition, cleanliness and quality throughout the hotel.
  • Communicates, coaches, and enforces policies, priorities, procedures, and administrative standards.
  • Ensure operational procedures are followed, conduct room inspections.
  • Facilitates positive and effective communication between Housekeeping and Guest Services.
  • Assist Housekeeping Manager as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ Front Office and or Housekeeping experience in a supervisory position.
  • Strong communication, supervisory and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service, problem resolution and leadership skills.
  • Able to identify and implement new revenue sources.
  • Flexible and energetic, maintains a positive attitude.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office working conditions.
  • Standing and sitting for long periods as required.
  • Able to lift or carry up to 20 lbs.
